It was Time for a Change When…

There are defining moments that stick with you in your life. Ones that may not mean a lot in the moment, but stay with you for a while. For me, it involved a 70 year old woman.

My grandma’s friend passed away around the age of 70 and I remember my grandma saying, “Now she can eat whatever she wants! She dieted all the time; but, now in heaven, she can have whatever she wants.”

And, it hit me. And, hit me HARD.

I didn’t want to be in my seventies and STILL dieting. Yet, that was the path I was on- bouncing from one diet and quick-fix to another. Swearing that “this one would work” and “I’ll have enough willpower for this one to last”

It went something like this…
I would finish off the pint of ice cream in my freezer on Sunday night and jump into a completely new lifestyle the next day.
I was determined to make a “healthy lifestyle” MY lifestyle.

-No more “bad” foods
-Tracking every calorie that I ate
-Planned every workout down to the minute- the more calories burned, the better.
-Got to bed early- get enough sleep
-Eat enough protein
-Shove veggies down my throat

I’d do all of this, so I could “be good.” To have my healthy lifestyle.

It was like this rigid playbook that I was given and that I had to embody every morning. That if I didn’t fit into “the plan",” it was shameful and bad.

And it was hard. And overwhelming. And it didn’t last.

What I didn’t know is:
-Food should FUEL your life
-Food is social and is meant to be fun
-Food is an asset, not an enemy

Your habits produce your results. And, therefore, the quality of your results is the quality of your habits.

So, if you’re feeling this, know there is food freedom!
It’s not normal to think about food all day.
You CAN get results without feeling hungry.

It’s one little step in the right direction. Consistently.
YOU GOT THIS!
